A graduate of the University of Exeter, John trained at Hutchins and Co, qualifying in 1981 and joined the firm on qualification. A partner between 1984 and 2011, John is now a consultant to PSP and has, in the last decade built an enviable reputation as a Clinical Negligence litigator. John brings to that work excellent analytical skills, thoroughness and outstanding judgement.
John has been a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel since 1993 and the Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme since 1999 and is a Senior Litigator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). In August 2010 John was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Civil).
A married father of two, John’s hobbies are difficult to describe as relaxing, encompassing as they do, mountaineering and supporting Newcastle United! However, John also enjoys military history and is especially interested in the landscape and culture of Greece to which he is a frequent visitor.
At work, John believes in providing an exceptional service to every client and that this should be central to the firms’ ethos. He is currently managing a number of multi-million pound claims. Notable past successes have included the litigation which arose from the negligence of a mountain guide which caused the tragic death of a climber and the successful pursuit of damages following the negligent treatment of the wife of a past Formula 1 racing driver.
John is also a trustee of an educational charity, the Aldenham School War Memorial Educational Fund.
